This dramatic video shows a small plane making an emergency landing on State Route 7 in Washington state in Parkland in Pierce County, just south of Tacoma. Washington State Trooper Clint Thompson happened to be driving in the area.
This is an older story, but still interesting due to the dramatic dash cam video. According to the Washington State Patrol, the plane’s fuel system malfunctioned en route from Yelm to Boeing Field in Seattle. The date of the event was Thursday, August 1, 2019. The pilot was forced to land the plane around 8:15 a.m. on Pacific Avenue between 135th and 143rd streets The trooper and the pilot pushed the plane off of the road and into a nearby parking lot.
There was no damage and there were no reports of any injuries, but certainly some surprised drivers.
As you can see in the second video, this KR-2 is a really small plane at under 15 feet long with just under a 20 foot wingspan. Cruising speed of 150 to 175 mph with a top speed of 200 mph. Looks fun, as long as there are no malfunctions.
