Human-Sheep Hybrids Created, Replacement Organ Breakthrough

Human-Sheep hybrids have been recently created and the plan is to use them to grow replacement organs for humans. What’s wrong with this picture?

First, it may be not be necessary. Some researchers know that Type 2 diabetes is not the incurable progressive disease some medical experts claim. Many patients hear the hopelessness, believe it and give up living. Type 2 diabetes will reverse if you shed less than a gram of fat in the pancreas and this can be accomplished with diet and exercise, without drugs.
Diabetes is a big growing business. One business plan for treating it involves creating and selling artificial or hybrid pancreases. In the news is a recent success by one group: human-sheep hybrids were created at Stanford.
World’s first human-sheep hybrids pave way for diabetes cure and mass organ transplants

Human-sheep hybrids have been created by scientists for the first time, opening the door to organs being grown inside the farmyard animals for use in transplants or to cure diabetes.
A team at Stanford University successfully grew embryos inside a surrogate for three weeks which had both sheep and human cells.
It is the first stage towards growing an unlimited supply of human organs for transplants and even providing a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
The next step is to implant human stem cells into sheep embryos which have been genetically modified so they cannot grow a pancreas, in the hope that human DNA will fill in the missing code.
If successful a human pancreas should appear inside the animal’s body. The team is about to apply for permission from regulators to lengthen their experiment to 70 days to see if the human cells really can create an organ.
… ‘We have already generated a mouse pancreas in rats and then transplanted those in to diabetic mouse and were able to show almost a complete cure,’ project lead Dr Hiro Nakuachi, a professor of genetics at Stanford, told the American Association for the Advancement of Science conference.
‘It could take five years or it could take 10 years but I think eventually we will be able to do this.’
The breakthrough could also help to alleviate the global shortage of organ donors.
Previously scientists had hoped that pig or sheep organs could be used directly because they are roughly the same size as a human. However they were always rejected. The new approach gets round the rejection problem because it uses stem cells directly from a human patient.

If the beta cell function in your pancreas shuts down, you would need added insulin daily to stay alive and in that case a hybrid pancreas could greatly improve your life, but is there a better way? There are real cases of even spontaneous Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) remission without transplants.
For Type I, what if the diagnosis of a broken immune system is wrong, a myth? What if your immune system is doing exactly what it should be doing, attacking invaders and your own damaged cells? In that case you only need to stop the damage to your cells and wait for them to repair. Move enough daily to flush the junk out of your lymph system (clean the house, do yard work, walk, dance, swim), get enough quality sleep and eat cleanly for enough time and your body will try to regenerate.
This is for everyone, not just for diabetics. One thing people who live a long time have in common is exquisite insulin sensitivity. This means sugar is removed from their blood and is used by their cells quickly and efficiently.
If it is challenging to take a brisk 45 daily walk, consider getting a dog that must be walked daily or find an exercise partner. If your time is very limited, learn about HIIT (sprints) and lifting weights as a great way to normalize your blood sugar and increase your health and lifespan.
